Less service and higher fares. You could also see the closing of a few small stations that are close to other stations. Until the economy picks up and tax revenues increase for the State, things will not be pretty.

All told, NJ Transit is proposing to eliminate 32 of 725 commuter trains, with at least two trains scheduled for elimination on each of the system's 11 lines.


This is going to hurt some of the smaller lines quite a bit. A few trains off the NEC may make for a better flow of trians but I suspect most of the changes will occur on the early morning or late night trains that are not as well patronized. You may also see the elimination of some of the express/semi-express trains that run just after rush hour.
